The story behind NEEF
A personal connection.
A shared purpose.
Nepal English Education Foundation supports children in Himalayan communities facing severe poverty, including children who have lost one or both parents. Education offers possibilities that hardship can otherwise put out of reach.

Education opens possibilities.
NEEF’s roots are in education, including English learning and support for school communities. Its work has included teachers, classroom resources, school supplies, uniforms and warm clothing.
The needs vary. The purpose stays consistent: help children get to school, keep learning and build their futures.
Ken and Marlene personally cover NEEF’s administration and travel expenses, allowing donations to go directly toward helping children.
A partnership grows
From a meeting in Lumbini
to years of working together.
Dilip Singh Kulung met Ken and Marlene in Lumbini in 2014. When the pandemic disrupted tourism in 2020, he reached out for help with a child’s education. That reconnection grew into a wider partnership with his organisation, Everest Mera Foundation.
Dilip Singh Kulung’s own formal education began at 13, after a childhood working as a cowherd. He later worked as a porter to support his studies and went on to earn a master’s degree in Applied Buddhism. His experience informs his commitment to children in his home communities.
Local knowledge and school relationships guide the work. NEEF respects the independence of the communities it serves and works through local school committees.
